The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of North Central Washington, which runs through noon Wednesday.  But even areas not impacted by the Advisory can expect to see snow, with total between 1”-2” on the Columbia Basin and 2”-4” in NCW.

Marilyn Lohmann with the National Weather Service said this systems is a bit of a change from what we’ve seen much of this winter.  She said January is typically when the Northwest gets the lion’s share of its snow, but this snow year as been a little odd.

“The weather was pretty quiet through the mid-part of December and then we had a number of systems move through during the rest of the month, but a lot of them brought rain, and probably more notably strong winds, so it was kind of warm so it didn’t quite feel like winter, and then it’s been a little quieter during this first week of the new year.”

Lohman added we can expect the possibility of fog rolling into the area in the next seven days.

“After this wintery system moves out we’ll see dryer conditions starting Thursday and those are expected through early next week as well as we’ll see an area of high pressure move in," Lohmann noted.  "We do expect daytime temperatures to be mild but then we’ll see some chilly nights if we have clear skies.”
