The USDA announced Wednesday it will reopen some FSA offices around the nation to meet the needs of farmers and ranchers.  Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue said unfortunately they won’t be able to reopen to normal operations.

“We will call back about 2,500 FSA employees to serve our customer’s needs.  That’s going to be in about almost half of our FSA offices.  Not all will be.  It depends on the duties of processing payments, receiving checks, and different things like that.”

Offices will temporarily reopen on Thursday, Friday and then on Tuesday.  Perdue said, the opened offices won’t be able to offer their full range of services.

“Unfortunately we’re not able to do everything, that we would like to do, but we continue to work on creative legal solutions on how we can serve farmer’s needs all the way.”
