On Monday, the House of Representatives passed the Congressional Disaster Relief Package, which means $19 billion will be available for producers impacted by floods, hurricanes, wildfires and other disasters.  Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue was pleased with the passage.

“Thankfully, finally, eight months after Hurricane Florence we’ve got a disaster bill that will help the producers, both the cropping and livestock producers there that lost a lot of things, some people lost everything.”

The package will help a variety of growers impacted by disasters, and in some cases, stretching back to disasters in 2017.

Perdue noted after the legislation is signed into law, the USDA will work very closely with states to implement the needed relief.
