Western Washington Very Dry, While Oregon Is In Good Shape

Despite warmer temperatures and a lack of moisture, the USDA says drought conditions across the Northwest have changed very little in the past week.  The latest Drought monitor shows just over 11% of Washington is under the D-2, or Severe Drought, designation; and all of that remains out on the Peninsula.  Over 40% of the state is under a Moderate Drought, including the Cascades, North Central Washington, and the extreme north east corner of the state.

In fact 29.2%, including much of the Columbia Basin and the southeast corner of the state,  is on par for this time of year.

Meanwhile, Oregon is in very good shape for this time of year.  USDA said 83% of the state is where it should be for water, and the few places that are abnormally dry, are in the Northwest corner, outside of Portland.
