While, we’re still getting reports from the data compiled in the 2017 Census of Agriculture.  But the USDA is already starting to prepare for the next Census, scheduled for three years down the road.

“Right now, we are soliciting input for 2022 about how we can make the process better, how we can improve the questions that we ask,” said Joe Parsons is with NASS.

Parsons said the Census is taken every five years, but work on ensuring the survey gets an accurate picture of the U.S. farm economy is an ongoing process.

“The Census of Agriculture is an ongoing program, so we have, like, the Irrigation Management Survey, that follows the last census.”

By the way, results of that Irrigation Management Survey are currently being compiled, with the results set to be released in November.  It’s one of several topic specific surveys set to be released later this year, or in early 2020.
