Congress will return from the August recess in just a few weeks.  And for several lawmakers, especially those in Ag districts, ratification of USMCA will be a key issue.

“I think we've had 28 different governors step forward and call for a vote on USMCA because they see the benefits,” said Ag undersecretary Greg Ibach.

He added under USMCA, Canada's class seven dairy pricing policies which basically shut out US products from the Canadian market would end, which, “will increase access especially for our northern states.”

And Ibach said it would gradually increase access to the Canadian market for U.S. wheat, eggs, and poultry products.  Mexico has already ratified the agreement.  Canada is waiting to see if the U.S. Congress will take up the agreement.

Ibach said with all the support being expressed now, he thinks Congress will vote on it probably before the end of the year.
