Oil prices are trading slightly lower in the mid $55-per barrel range.  And much like the Dow last week, oil prices were in seesaw mode, thanks to the turbulence in the trade war with China.  Typically this time of year, oil prices start to slide lower as summer drive demand lowers.  But hurricane season can also be an issue for oil prices.

But Patrick DeHaan with Gasbuddy.com says, much like Iran, much like Venezuela, hurricane concerns have taken a back seat.

“Really, I think for the time being, the continued threat from China, on trade, is probably a bigger issue to oil and gasoline prices.”

The average price for a gallon of diesel held steady over the holiday weekend, with the national average coming in at $2.93, Washington’s rate held at $3.25, and Oregon’s came in at $3.13 a gallon.

As far as the local prices are concerned:

  • $2.96 a gallon in the Tri-Cities
  • $3.05 a gallon in Wenatchee
  • $3.19 a gallon in Ephrata
  • $2.99 a gallon in Qunicy
  • $3.18 a gallon in Moses Lake
  • $2.81 a gallon in Pendleton
  • $3.17 a gallon in Walla Walla
  • $2.94 a gallon in Yakima
