Lawmakers say passing the USMCA is not only good for agriculture, but a necessary step in resolving trade with China.  At rally on the National Mall Thursday morning organized by agriculture groups, House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson says there is a direct link between passing USMCA and resolving the trade war with China.

“The bigger issue is getting something resolved with the China issue, and I think it’s going to be very hard to do if we don’t’ get this out of the way.  So, that’s another reason for us to move on this sooner rather than later.”

Peterson said passing USMCA allows for more focus on the talks with China.  Ranking Ag Committee member Mike Conaway, along with other leaders in the House joined Peterson at the podium during the event hosted by Farmers for Free Trade.
