DMC Deadline Approaching

Dairy producers a reminder from the FSA's Steve Peterson.

"September the 20th is the deadline to apply for the Dairy Margin Coverage program for the 2019 year."

The 2018 Farm Bill safety net program for dairy farmers includes a 25% premium discount to lock in coverage discounts until 2023.  And for producers still deciding in the remaining days whether or not to enroll in DMC, an online decision support tool is available.

"The producers can go in and look at projections. They can determine what the premium costs are going to be. And it's a really good tool for producers to go in and determine options, what coverage levels they should look at based on price projections that are being estimated."
