Why is installing rural broadband so important to the agriculture industry?  Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue said it is about the new and improved technologies to increase productivity, sustainability, and profitability.

“There's some amazing precision agriculture tools out there that ended up things with optic technology, with sensor technology, more productivity and more usage as well as any kind of input usage there as well as sensory technology for animal health.”

The secretary also discussed the continued demand for improved e-connectivity in rural America and how federal agencies in USDA can continue to support broadband expansion efforts.

 

“We need to understand how we can coalesce all the federal funding going in to broadband technology in a very opportunistic way to get the best return on investment,” Perdue added.
