Just days after Governor Jay Inslee asked that the state kill fewer wolves, the Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife announced a wolf was killed in the state’s southeast region.  WDFW said on September 25th an adult female member of the Grouse Flats pack was killed.  It is believed that wolf was the breeding female.  WDFW notes this pack has repeatedly preyed on cattle grazing in Garfield County and the surround areas.

On September 24th WDFW Director Kelly Susewind authorized the incremental removal of wolves from the Grouse Flats pack after four confirmed livestock depredations over a two month time period, and seven over the past 13 months.  WDFW says if additional depredations are confirmed from the Grouse Flats pack, additional wolves may be killed.
