Late last week, Representative Dan Newhouse was in Prosser to introduce the Water Supply Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Utilization Act.  While much of the focus of the legislation is on improving old irrigation infrastructure across the west, some of which is roughly 100 years old, he said the legislation will also help with newer irrigation efforts.  Specifically the Yakima River Basin Water Enhancement project.

“Not only improving existing infrastructure this will help in the operation and maintenance and improvements that we need to make because of that legislation that was just passed.   So, this provides resources for both sides of the equation and it truly will be a help to the Yakima project as well as efforts that are going on in the Columbia Basin.  So, this is good for all of Central Washington.”

The House approved the Yakima River Basin Water Enhancement project earlier this year.
