Last week, Dan Newhouse joined two other Republican representatives talking about the importance of passing USMCA.  Newhouse, Kentucky’s James Comer and Tennessee’s John Rose penned a joint op-ed in The Hill to discuss how important the updated NAFTA is to the American economy.

In the letter they said.

“We have worked with growers, producers, commodity groups, and governments to promote our agricultural goods. We worked to spur rural economic development, and we cultivated relationships with international trading partners. As family farmers, we remain connected to the farm communities we represent. Now, we must build upon these relationships to show Americans and the world that the United States is open for business."

All three representatives served as heads of their state’s agriculture departments. Rep. Newhouse served as Director of Washington State’s Department of Agriculture from 2009 to 2013.

“Washington, Kentucky, and Tennessee may be vastly different in the products we produce and export, but the fact remains: We rely on our neighbors to the north and south. The United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) agreement is the modernized trade agreement our country needs and our agriculture industries deserve.”
