Earlier this month, during an address to Farmers across the country, President Trump said it’s time for Congress to act on trade deals that his Administration has worked on and improved.

“We are replacing NAFTA with the brand new U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement, USMCA.  Now it is time for Congress to finally approve this deal.”

Central Washington’s Dan Newhouse says he could not agree more with the President.

“Approval of USMCA by Congress is long overdue," Newhouse said recently.  "The agreement has been perfected, the Democrats under the leadership of Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi have looked at many of the parts that they had problems with.  And I have not heard from the other side that there are still issues yet to be resolved.”

Newhouse has said on multiple occasions that USMCA will benefit Northwest producers, and American Ag as a whole.  Concerns remain that a vote on USMCA in the House will be lost in the shuffle of the impeachment investigation as well as legislation to prevent another government shutdown.
