The USDA recently wrapped up a four-day trade mission to Ghana in western Africa.  One of the main focuses of this mission, like other USDA missions, was to unlock new trade opportunities in the region for American producers.  The USDA's Steven Censky led the the mission and the over 40 participants, representing a wide variety of food and Ag products.

"These representatives have held over 487 business-to-business meetings where they have met with fire representatives," Censky noted.

Buyers, not just from Ghana, but other African nations.  Is progress being made?

"[We] have generated 12 month sales that are projected to be at least $ 11.5 million," Censky said.  "We expect that figure to grow again as there's more follow on and we get more of the survey results."

Censky said he was, "very pleased with this trade mission overall."
