In late October, Representative Greg Walden announced he would not seek reelection to Oregon’s 2nd Congressional district in 2020.  The Oregon Cattlemen’s Association’s Jerome Rosa said the announcement was surprising for many in the farm community.  He added he’s sad to see Walden go.

“Representative Walden has been a go to for the Ag industry for many years since he went into office," Rosa said.  "I’ve never been to a D.C. trip where Greg Walden himself didn’t come and visit with us, and no mater what, his schedule was, he would always come out and and make sure and visit with us and spend time with us.”

Rosa added Walden’s relationship with Eastern Oregonians was phenomenal.

“No matter who steps in to replace him, will not be able to step into those big shoes that he’s really acquired by all of these years that he has served Eastern Oregon so well.”

At last count, 18 Republicans have announced plan to step away from the house after 2020.
