The month of November has been quiet, weather wise for much of the Inland Northwest.  Marilyn Lohmann, meteorologist with the National Weather Service says with the exception of a few foggy days, the region has been dry and system free.  And she said while that’s good news for travelers in the lower elevations, those Dry, quiet conditions have been occurring up high as well.

“The early season snowpack for most of the area has been less than 25% [of normal].  If we think back, we were quite excited, we saw some snow in late September, and a little bit in October and we thought we were off to the races, as far as the mountain snowpack is concerned, but unfortunately that hasn’t proven true.”

Lohmann is hopeful that systems lined up in the Pacific, expected to hit the Northwest over the Thanksgiving weekend will bring some much needed snow to the area passes, and perhaps rain in the lower elevations.  As we look to the final month of the year, Lohmann expects temperatures to run near to above normal.
