The general sign-up begins Monday for USDA's Conservation Reserve Program.

 

"The announcement that we are going to initiate sign-up for those general continuous CRP beginning on December 9th," said FSA Administrator, Richard Fordyce.

 

The general CRP sign-up is the first since 2015-16, enrollment runs through February 28th, coinciding with acreage enrollment with  various continuous CRP offerings.  Also, set to take place next year an enrollment periods for CRP grasslands, and a roll-out of two pilot programs within CRP. They are all a part of the program's 35th anniversary year.

 

FSA Deputy Administrator Brad Carmen added, while there is not a specific cap number for acres in the general sign up with 7 million eligible acres available for  enrollment in various CRP programs, "this could be the largest type we've had in over 10 years we anticipate plenty of room for Continuous general in CRP."
