December is typically one of the quieter months when it comes to the USDA's monthly crop production reports, and world agriculture supply and demand estimates.

"We don't get any new information from NASS regarding acreage or yields so we're not expecting anything to change on the production side for U.S. agriculture," said acting World Agriculture Outlook board chair Mark Jekanowski,

He acknowledged the unique crop year with some areas still with harvest delays will impact the December figures.

"In a normal year this time of year the crop would be in we'd have a pretty good sense for the size of the crop," Jekanowski said.  "This year there's a little more uncertainty generally. We'll get the final acreage numbers in January, but until then we're basically going to be working with what we had in November."

The December report will feature early updates on Southern Hemisphere crops such as Australian wheat and South American row crops when released with the crop production report this coming Tuesday at 9 a.m. Pacific.
