As the United States and Canada try to update the 55 year old Columbia River Treaty, Central Washingtonians will get an opportunity to learn first-hand how those ongoing talks.  On Monday December 16th, Jill Smail with the Secretary of State’s office, and lead CRT negotiator will hold a town hall in Richland.  Representative Dan Newhouse says the updated Treaty could have a huge impact on central Washingtonians.

“Changes in the agreement could impact the availability of irrigation water to producers, as well as the transportation possibilities or opportunities that we have on the river," Newhouse said.  "So, there are certainly a lot of things that have direct implications to our way of life, and our economy.”

The town hall will take place at the Federal Building in Richland, starting at 5:30 p.m.
