The previous year has been a challenging one for many in the agriculture industry.  Representative Dan Newhouse said farmers across the state, across the nation are struggling right now, facing low commodity prices and export markets that are “challenging”.  Newhouse said the difficult time of 2019 point out the importance of a strong Farm Bill.

He said many of the provisions and safety nets in the 2018 Farm Bill helped producers weather a difficult year, allowing for reason for optimism as we look ahead to 2020.

“Still some challenges for sure, to be addressed, but I think we truly have been able to make sure progress in finding solutions for American agriculture.”

Newhouse added in the New Year, Ag labor and trade, specifically trade with China will be some of the top farm issues in Washington D.C.
