As we close the book on 2019, one of the things that really stuck out for the farming community was the wild weather the Northwest experience this year.  Marilyn Lohmann, meteorologist with the National Weather Service said 2019 stated on an odd foot with very little snow in January, however, the region quickly made up for it with a late season snow storm in February that delayed planting a lot of field work.

She added a cool and dry spring continued through July.  And the heat the area is known for did not appear until August when we started to see multiple days above 100 degrees.

September was very wet and cool, while November was cool and dry.

“It was very changeable," Lohmann laughed.  "And when you look back on the year, it is amazing when you look back on month to month, and throughout the year how much weather has gone on, and how changeable it is from month to month.”

Remember to join us Wednesday mornings for Ag Weather In Depth with Marilyn Lohmann, during Northwest Ag Today.
