2020 Mid-Columbia Ag Hall Of Fame Class Will Be Inducted Thursday
Farming’s past, present and future will be honored Thursday during the induction of the 2020 class of the Mid-Columbia agriculture Hall of Fame in Pasco. Colin Hastings with the Pasco Chamber said the Hall of Fame idea started two decades ago as a way to highlight the importance of the Ag industry for the entire lower Columbia Basin.
“And really taking a moment out and acknowledging some of these great people in the industry that have helped create what we have today. We’re on our 20th year, so 20-plus years ago, the concept kind of came together and they put it together and it’s grown to one of the biggest events here in the Tri-Cities honoring Ag.”
Hastings added the Hall of Fame is not just about the pioneers and those that have laid the groundwork, but also honoring those that will continue to keep farming strong for generations to come.
“We knew we were missing segments of the Ag industry that had a little bit different role and they we’re pioneers. They may be 2nd generation it may be somebody who is doing something that is very innovative and they’re young, and we want to recognize that. Or someone who has a vision and a visionary sort of aspect to their impact on the Ag industry.”
Awards will be handed out for Stewardship, Ag Advisory, the Rising Star as well as the Pioneers of Columbia Basin farming. Click Here to learn more about this year's inductees.
