The latest round of agricultural numbers from NASS shows a mixed bag for area wheat growers.  Wheat planted across Washington totaled 2.26 million acres in 2019, up 2% year over year.  Harvested area in the Evergreen state topped out at 2.21 million acres, is up 2% from 2018 figures.  Production totaled 143 million bushels, a 7% drop from last year.  Yields are estimated at 64.7 bushels per acre, down 6.1 bushels from the previous year.

 

In Oregon, all wheat planted totaled 740,000 acres with harvested area at 730,000 acres.  Production totaled 49.6 million bushels with a yield of 68.0 bushels per acre.

 

In Idaho all wheat planted totaled 1.20 million acres last year, up slightly from 2018.  Harvested area hit 1.13 million acres, is down 1% year over year.  All wheat production totaled 98.8 million bushels, down 5% from last year.  Yield is estimated at 87.8 bushels per acre, down 4.1 bushels from 2018.
