President Trump will sign UMSCA at the White House Wednesday, leaving our neighbors to the north as the final ones to ratify the updated NAFTA.  Senate Finance Chair Chuck Grassley said this is great news for America’s farmers.

“This agreement opens up new market access for 'Made-in-America' products. That means thousands of new jobs and a level playing field for U.S. farmers and manufacturers."

The agreement includes some $2.2 billion worth of new access for U.S. dairy and wheat in Canada, and continued low or zero tariffs for other commodities, including pork, beef and poultry in Canada and Mexico.  Canadian officials have said they hope to ratify the deal soon.

“And I think Trudeau is intent on doing that, probably within the next 30-days. I think they’ve got 21-days after the Prime Minister submits it to the House of Commons for debate on it. But, at the end of that 21 days, or whatever number of days it is, I think it’s going to pass.”

Mexico ratified the deal last year.  Wednesday’s signing comes two weeks after the Administration signed the Phase One trade agreement with China.
