Now that the Impeachment Trial is over in Washington D.C., lawmakers can focus on the day to day tasks that make the country run, and Central Washington’s Dan Newhouse is hopeful Ag issues will move to center stage.  Newhouse said one of his top priorities is working with colleagues in the Senate to get the Farm Workforce Modernization Act passed.  He said the legislation had momentum to wrap up 2019, and hopes they can pick that momentum back up.

In addition, Newhouse said he’s hopeful that after three years of talk, lawmakers will address the need to improve America’s infrastructure.

“We have a lot of needs throughout the country, updating, building new, replacing different kinds of infrastructure.  So, I’m hopeful that will be something that will be a priority.”

Newhouse added another issue he hopes lawmakers tackle sooner rather than later, the growing costs of health care and prescription drugs.
