After a very active start to the month, February has calmed down and quieted down considerably for the Northwest.  Marilyn Lohmann with the National Weather Service said with the exception of a weak system rolling in this weekend, this dry, sunny pattern is expected to hold for the foreseeable future.  Lohmann said while these clear skies are beautiful dayside, it leads to cold overnight temperatures.

“I do know that some of the trees have started blossoming in the fruit growing areas, so that’s of some concern to the grower there.”

Lohmann said this lack of activity is expected to continue all the way into March, meaning the month will come in like a lamb.  She noted just because the month starts of gentle does not mean that will continue for long.

“March is one of our more changeable months, so seasonable can go from wet to dry or dry to wet pretty quickly across the area.”

Lohmann added that will the exception of the Palouse, the northwest is dry for this time of year, which is of concern.
