On Wednesday, leaders from the potato and apple industries will call on the Senate to pass Ag labor reform.  During this week’s press conference, members of the farm community and of the House of Representatives will ask the Senate to vote on legislation addressing the Ag Labor crisis.  Specifically, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, sponsored by Washington’s Dan Newhouse, Idaho’s Mike Simpson and others.  Supporters of the bill says the Senate needs to begin the process of drafting and enacting long-term labor solutions to support the health of American agriculture and its workers.

Wednesday’s press conference takes place during the National Potato Council’s 2020 Potato D.C. Fly-In.

Participating in Wednesday’s event will be current NPC President Britt Raybould of Idaho, Vice President of Legislative and Government Affair RJ Andrus of Idaho, U.S. Reps. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), Zoe Lofgren (D-California), Dan Newhouse (R-Washington) and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Florida) and Jim Bair, president and CEO of the U.S. Apple Association, as well as NPC grower leaders.
