FDA Commissioner Steven Hahn said he recently passed through the airport recently and noted that public demand for CBD, is high. He recently told the National Association of State Directors of Agriculture that farmers need to determine how to meet that need.

"We're not going to be able to say you can't use these products. It's just, even if we did, it's a fool's game to try and even approach that. But, what do we need to do? We need to fill the information gaps."

He specified that more research has to be done on CBD's medical benefits.

"You probably know that we approved a drug at the dialex for the treatment of childhood seizure disorders, and CBD is the active ingredient in that."

Hahn added his agency wants to help people decide what about CBD is risky and what might have medical value.

"The FDA has spent a lot of time looking at this. We are trying to formulate what our stance will be on this," Hanh noted.
