CRP Grassland Sign-up Just Around The Corner

If you did not choose to enroll acreage in the recently concluded CRP general sign-up, there are other USDA Farm Service Agency programs to participate in under the CRP banner. And one sign-up session will get underway soon.

"This year the sign-up period for CRP Grasslands is March 16th-May 15th, noted FSA Administrator, Rochard Fordyce. He added CRP Grasslands provides conservation and protection of grasslands and rangelands, yet allows for grazing, and hay and seed production. Similar to general CRP, the grasslands version offers 10-15 year contracts to participating land owners with enrolled acreage.

"CRP Grasslands sign-up will always follows general CRP sign-up. Probably a month or two after is how it's scheduled."

Administrator Fordyce adds, like general CRP sign-up scheduled annually through the life of the current Farm Bill, CRP Grasslands sign-up will also take place every year through 2023.
