Temperatures Expected To Warm, But Area Will Remain Dry

Temperatures for the most part are on par with where they should be for this time of year. At least the daytime highs. Overnight lows across the region have been unseasonable cold.

Marilyn Lohman, National Weather Service meteorologist, said there’s a couple of reasons for the chilly nights.

“We keep seeing some mainly clear skies overnight and that has allowed the lows and that’s allowed radiational cooling to allow those overnight temperatures to drop, and over the next couple of days we do have another systems that’s working through and that gives us a northerly flow behind it and it allows some colder air from Canada to continue to filter south.”

Lohmann said after the current systems rolls out of the area Thursday, we should see overnight temperatures warm a little bit, which should help soil temperatures which are already in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s in some locations. Unfortunately it does not look like the dry conditions will change anytime soon. Lohmann said the next couple of weeks are expected to be below normal precipitation, which means occasional shows with light rain totals.
