Ag  Undersecretary Bill Northy says in the wake of all that's going on with the COVID-19 situation, "We will continue to look to figure out if there's flexibility to be able to help producers."

And the latest example of that coming from the USDA's Rick Management Agency. RMA administrator, Martin Barbre, announced Friday a series of flexibilities that will allow the approved crop insurance providers to continue to work with producers on insurance matters.

First, in order to reduce person-to-person contact as much as possible, producers will now be allowed to send notifications and reports electronically.

USDA is going to give producers more time for production reports to be submitted, and for premiums to be paid.

Also, RMA is deferring interest on unpaid premiums and other payments.
Farmers are urged to call or email their insurance agent to get all of the details on this.
