ARC/PLC Enrollment Hits Record

How was participation in the Agriculture Risk Coverage or ARC Program and the Price Loss Coverage Program for 2019 crops? The answer: record high!

USDA reporting the most farmer participation ever in those programs singing one and three quarter million in contracts. That’s more than double over the last five years. Why the increase?

"Probably more awareness around the ARC and PLC and again the fact that those programs are so important from a safety net standpoint that the get more folks to sign up," said Farm Service Agency Administrator Richard Fordyce.

Those numbers are for 2019 crops. Sign up for 2020 ARC and PLC is underway right now. Fordyce said, even if you signed up for 2019 you’ve still got to confirm your participation for 2020, even though you’ll have the same elections that you decided on for 2019.

Sign up for this crop year needs to be done by June 30th.
