Earlier this week, House Republicans called on Governor Jay Inslee to reopen Washington.

Saying farmers are falling further behind every day, the lawmakers said in a letter that it is time to relax the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order and restart the rural economy. The letter adds with restaurants closed, and school out for the summer, potato contracts are being cancelled, dairy farmers are dumping milk and the live cattle market prices are dropping, the state’s economy should be restarted with some assistance.

The rural lawmakers says moving forward, returning to work now could be voluntary, strict social distancing must be maintained, and monitoring the health of all returning workers needs to take place at the start of each day.

Republicans also noted the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order has been effective and Washingtonians should be commended for doing a good job.
