Despite a snowy end to the winter, drought conditions are being reported in many portions of the Northwest as we prepare to welcome in spring.

According to the latest USDA drought numbers, only 20% of Oregon is on par for where it should be this time of year.  Currently over 40% of the state is in the D1 category, or Moderate Drought, with roughly 2%, already under the D2, Severe Drought designation.

Numbers are better in Washington, but not by much.  35% of the state is considered abnormally dry for this time of year, while nearly 4% is under a Moderate Drought designation.  The driest areas right now are found in the south central and northeast portions of the state.
