As of May 1st, hay stocks across the Northwest were 22% higher compared to 2019 numbers. According to NASS, on-farm hay stocks in Washington totaled 160,000 tons, down 45% year-over-year. May 1st stocks represent 7% of 2019 production. Disappearance from December 1st, 2019 was down 890,000 tons.

Oregon’s on-farm hay stocks totaled 400,000 tons, up 135% from 2019. May 1 stocks are 12% of 2019 production. Disappearance from December 1st, 2019 totaled down 1.5 million tons. In Idaho, hay stocks hit 490,000 tons, up 23% from a year ago. May 1 stocks represent 10% of 2019 production. Disappearance from December 1, 2019 was down 1.9 million tons. Nationally, hay stocks stored on-farm totaled 20.4 million tons, up 37% from a year ago. May 1st stocks are 16% of 2019 production.

Disappearance from December 1st, 2019 totaled down 64.1 million tons.
