Stormy Pattern Expected To Continue Over Next Week

After weeks of a dry, stable weather pattern, things have become more “spring like” across the Inland northwest. Much of the area saw rain showers and even a few thunderstorms on Tuesday, and while Wednesday looks to be quiet, those showers and storms are expected to return on Thursday.

Marilyn Lohmann with the National Weather Service said the showers this week won’t result in large rain totals, she expects between 0.10”-0.25” of rain, which is a similar precipitation total to what we saw last weekend. But she added at this point, ever little bit helps.

“It did kind of perk things up a little bit.  So, hopefully it helps, it’s not going to be a huge precipitation producer, by any means, but just some light showers and light amounts mainly for the region.”

Despite those showers, soil moisture levels remain very low for this time of year. Meanwhile, soil temperatures are in the mid to upper 60s with some areas reporting low 70s.

Lohmann said the showers will return Thursday, fade off for Friday and Saturday, and then another low pressure system will move into the Inland Northwest Sunday and Monday.
