NASS: NW Winter Wheat Production Up 1%

According to NASS winter wheat production across the northwest increased 1% from May to June.

As of June 1^st, Washington winter wheat production is forecast at 121 million bushels, up 2% year-over year. Harvested area, at 1.64 million acres, is down 60,000 acres from the 2019. Yield is forecast at 74.0 bushels per acre, up 2.0 bushels from the May 1^st forecast and up 4.0 bushels from last year.

In Idaho, winter wheat production is forecast at 60 million bushels, up 1% from 2019 figures. Harvested area, at 690,000 acres, are up 10,000 acres from 2019. Yield is expected to average 87.0 bushels per acre, up 2.0 bushels from the May 1^st forecast but unchanged from last year.

Winter wheat production in Oregon, is expected to total 42.3 million bushels this year, down 15% from 2019 numbers. Area harvested is expected to total 730,000 acres, unchanged from the previous year. Yield is forecast at 58.0 bushels per acre, down 4.0 bushels from the May 1^st forecast and down 10.0 bushels from last year.

Nationwide, winter wheat production is forecast at 1.27 billion bushels, up 1% from the May 1^st forecast but down 3% from 2019. Based on June 1^st conditions, the United States yield is forecast at 52.1 bushels per acre, up 0.4 bushel from last month but down 1.5 bushels from last year.

U.S. White Winter wheat production, at 225 million bushels, is up 1% from last month. Of the White Winter production, 16.6 million bushels are Hard White and 209 million bushels are Soft White. Hard Red Winter production, at 743 million bushels, is up 1% from last month. Soft Red Winter, at 297 million bushels, is down slightly from the May forecast.
