In mid-March, Bleyhl opened its new 6,400-ton fertilizer plant in Grandview, allowing growers up and down the Yakima Valley over a dozen products in bulk. Bleyhl’s Ryan Schutt said the transition to the new, larger facility has been a smooth one. He added by eliminating the middle man, and blending fertilizers in house, they save money, which means farmers save money.

“You know, when new things come out, different ways to stabilize the fertilizers so it doesn’t leach, we can do that.  We can blend different fertilizers, so everyone has their own special blend that they like, so now we can do it, instead of having somebody else do it for us.”

Schutt added Bleyhl has a new effort underway to meet the needs of producers across the lower Columbia Basin, not only tree fruit growers, by row crop growers.
