Winter wheat harvest is underway, and it is moving northward.

"Nationally 41% of the winter wheat harvested on June 28th that is equal to the five year average and significantly ahead of last year's harvest pace just 26% of the crop harvested on June 28th 2019," noted USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey.

He continued that this is most likely the season's 2nd to last look at winter wheat conditions.

"52% good to excellent 16% very poor to poor only minor changes from last week and this year's crop will wrap up with a lower rating that what we saw a year ago when winter wheat was rated 62% good to excellent and 10% very poor to poor

"Some of the draught and freeze-related issues were across the central sand southern great plains," Rippey continued. "We see Colorado wheat 39% very poor to poor. Texas wheat 28%. and Kansas wheat, the number one production state,  20% very poor to poor."
