After six years at the helm, Oregon Cattlemen’s Association Executive Director Jerome Rosa announced he’s leaving the organization, for a similar position in Arizona. Rosa said he’s sad to leave Oregon for, but he and his wife are being pulled to the Southwest.

“We’ve been living in Oregon for 32 years now, we have our dairy here and our ranch here, but those grandchildren are a very powerful source of where we want to be.  So, we feel fortunate that I’ll be able to have an opportunity and we’ll be able to be a bigger part of their lives.”

When it comes to the future of the OCA, Rosa said an issue he sees climbing in importance is the attacks from animal rights originations in blue states, such as Washington, Oregon and California.

“We’ve seen trucks being stopped hauling cattle to our processing plants up in Washington state for instance, by protestors and animal rights groups.  And this effort is growing and it’s growing tremendously and it’s coming out of many of these places that are well funded and growing in importance.”

Rosa said it’s Important producers continue to fight and continue to tell the good stories of agriculture. He added there are many accomplishments he’s very proud of during his time at OCA.

Rosa’s last day with OCA is scheduled for July 10th.
