What is the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife going to do about the Wedge wolf pack in the northeast corner of the state? That question remains nearly a week after additional depredations were attributed to the pack.

Last weekend, WDFW said seven more cattle were attacked on private pasture land; leaving all cows with injuries. The number of attacks attributed to the pack is now in the double digit range since mid-May.

This is not the first time the Wedge Pack has been at the center of depredation controversy. Seven member of the Wedge pack were killed back in 2012, which was the first time lethal force was used against the gray wolf since the species had returned to Washington. Fish and Wildlife killed seven wolves in the Wedge pack in 2012, leaving two surviving members. It was the first time the department had culled a pack since wolves began returning to Washington.

After a prolonged period of no confirmed attacks, the Wedge pack killed a cow in a private pasture in June 2019, according to Fish and Wildlife.
