It may be a few months later than normal, and it won’t look like events of the past, but the Ag World Golf Classic is preparing to hit the links in the coming weeks.

The plan was to have two locations for the June golf tournament, one in Kennewick and a new second location in Moses Lake. However, the pandemic pushed the golf tournament out two months. And recently, the golf course in Kennewick announced the cancelation of all events in August, leaving just the Moses Pointe location for this year’s 7th annual Ag World Golf Classic.

Ag World President and CEO Bryan Henninger said in addition to the different date and location, because of social distancing, they have done away with the shotgun start. So this year, they will, "simply take over the golf course".

“We will have tee times for everybody, everybody will be starting on hole one spaced about ten minutes apart," Henninger added. "And so, we’ll just play the course, assign all the different teams tee times, unfortunately, we won’t be able to have a group gathering, or our famous group photo, like we have in the past, but at least we’ll be able to get together.”

He also noted interaction on the course will be greatly limited, and food will be provided, but it will come in a food box rather than from a variety of vendors. Henninger said while this is a stark difference to what they’ve done in the past, he doesn’t feel it will detour participants.

"The fact that we’re able to do something, in this COVID season, is special enough, and I think people are just going to be excited to get out and participate even though it’s not going to be the same.”

As always, proceeds from the annual Ag World Golf Classic will once again benefit the Ronald McDonalds House Charities of the Inland Northwest. Henninger said last year, the tournament in Kennewick raised over $100,000 for RMHC; and in the six years since the Ag World Golf Tournament started, is over $420,000.

This will also be the first golf tournament without founder Warren Henninger, who passed away earlier this summer. Bryan said this tournament was always a special event for the entire family.
