No news is good news when it comes to energy prices. According to Gas Buddy’s Patrick DeHaan oil prices continue to hold steady as all eyes remain on the growing number of COVID-19 cases across the U.S. and internationally.

In Monday’s trade, oil prices were hovering in the low $40 per barrel range, the same place prices have been for nearly two months. But, gasoline prices are moving slightly higher, thanks to refinery problems in California. However, DeHaan said he does not expect diesel prices to move up anytime soon.

“Inventories of diesel remain among the highest of any fuel versus last year along with jet fuel.  So there is plenty of distillate sand diesel fuel out there, and I’m not expecting diesel fuel to record much of an upward tick, as farmers begging to get out in the field.”

When taking a look at diesel prices, the national rate increased one cent this week $2.41 a gallon, Washington’s average increased one cent to $2.73, Oregon diesel prices were unchanged this week at $2.61, and Idaho’s prices increased two cents to $2.37 a gallon.

Here are some of the lowest local prices we could find across the area.

  • $2.42 a gallon in the Tri-Cities
  • $2.33 a gallon in Wenatchee
  • $2.49 a gallon in Pullman
  • $2.28 a gallon in Lewiston
  • $2.49 a gallon in Moses Lake
  • $2.25 a gallon in Pendleton
  • $2.59 a gallon in Walla Walla
  • $2.13 a gallon in Yakima
