CBC’s Ag Program Honored

 Columbia Basin College’s Agricultural Program has been named the “Outstanding Post-Secondary Agriculture Program” in the western United States for 2020, a region that is made up of ten states. The National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) will recognize CBC’s program in a conference tentatively scheduled for December.

CBC’s Ag Program offers five degree options, including a Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Management with a concentration in Agriculture. All Ag students at the Pasco-based school are eligible to apply for CBC Foundation scholarships. Many student choose to pursue a Direct Transfer Agreement, allowing them to complete two years of study and then transfer as juniors into Ag programs at any four year college in Washington.

“There are a lot of colleges that offer ag, but most don’t offer the space and the experiences we do,” said Sandya Kesoju, Director for Agriculture Education, Research & Development at CBC. Kesoju said she believes the NAAE evaluators recognized the depth of the program’s degree options, its eight-acre research farm and internship model, and the program’s engagement with the community.
