ODFW: Pack Killed Sheep Guard Dog

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says a guard dog was killed by a nearby back in Union County last weekend.

Investigators were called out to a Forest Service grazing area, where the carcass of the 100 pound dog was discovered. ODFW estimates the dog was killed Friday or early Saturday morning. Investigators add a host of bite marks, 6”-10” in length, were found all over the dog’s body, but the carcass had not been scavenged.

The depredation has been attributed to the nearby Ruckel Ridge Pack. This was the 7^th confirmed depredation ODFW crews were called to in the month of August.
