The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says a guard dog was killed by a nearby back in Union County last weekend.

Investigators were called out to a Forest Service grazing area, where the carcass of the 100 pound dog was discovered. ODFW estimates the dog was killed Friday or early Saturday morning. Investigators add a host of bite marks, 6”-10” in length, were found all over the dog’s body, but the carcass had not been scavenged.

The depredation has been attributed to the nearby Ruckel Ridge Pack. This was the 7th confirmed depredation ODFW crews were called to in the month of August.
