WSU Tree Fruit Extension will hold the second and third Cosmic Crisp pre-harvest zoom sessions Wednesday September 23rd and then again on September the 30th.

Team Leader Karen Lewis says these next two will be smaller in size, allowing for a more in depth Q&A format.

“Last week was all about pre-harvest, measuring maturity in the fields, using the starch chart and getting the numbers right so that you pick your fruit at the right time. [Wednesday the 23rd] is a follow up to have more discussions pre-harvest, making sure you get it right, understanding the 2020 recommendations and the requirements through PVM.”

Lewis added they'll cover everything from field to harvest to the packing house.

“It’s an apple that’s in such high demand that all of us have the obligation to have as much information and to execute on that information to deliver the best Cosmic Crisp to the marketplace and consumers this year and every year.”

Lewis says they have been working with the new variety for the past eight years and they have a lot of information to provide high-quality fruit. Both sessions will run from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is required at WSU's Website.
