"We have currently a 170 conservation practice standards and they frame the technical standards and the specifications for the conservation work that we do individually with producers," said Kevin Norton acting NRCS acting chief. "It's kinda like building a house: you know, you have the specifications that you want the house built to. If you're gonna build a pond, if you're gonna install irrigation systems if you're going to design a prescribed grazing rotation, these are the standards that we use in the designing practice to fit the specific need on the operation."

The latest release involves 58 revised and new conservation standards.
