The USDA has approved the hemp plans for half of the states in the U.S. and nearly 40 tribes. However, the USDA is also in the process of reviewing public comments for the U.S. domestic hemp production program interim final rule.

"We're interested to hear feedback on topics like disposal under mediation of non-compliant plants, interstate commerce, the provision and the interim final rule the 15 days harvest window, and when testing needs to occur," noted Agricultural Marketing Service Administrator, Bruce Summers. "​We're looking for comments on hemp breeding and research. Sampling methodology would be another area that we're looking for comments on specifically what other sampling should be done flower or whole plant, and even frequency and volume of the  sampling methodology."

Nearly 1,200 comments were received during the program's comment period, which wrapped up October 8th.
