La Niña Has Yet To Make Presence Known

We may be under a La Niña weather pattern, but you wouldn’t know it looking at the lack of snow and the warm temperatures we’ve see across the Northwest this month. Marilyn Lohmann with the National Weather Service said the month of December has been so dry, that much of the area is at least ½" below normal in the precipitation column. And while this month has not panned out the way many had expected, Lohmann says La Niña is done with the area yet.

“It still looks to be on track as we head into the New Year, and a lot of times, the effects of a La Niña are much more known in the January, February, in to early March time frame.  So, we’re still looking for normal to below normal temperatures and wetter than normal conditions.”

Lohmann said it looks like we’ll see a more active weather pattern in the next week, with storms hitting the region ever 36-48 hours. But will that lead to a White Christmas? Find out by listening to our podcast with Lohmann:
